Reading the Wall Street Journal was an effective way to learn about mass communications because the news in because it had relevant information to all the industries we were learning about. We were able to have a current update of events going on pertaining to media and mass communications, such as new technologies (Barnes and Noble e-nook reader) that were surfacing to what companies were failing (myspace, AOL) and what companies were striving (facebook, amazon, apple). We also had perspective and new information on the oncoming downfall of newspapers and the radio to have an understanding of where these careers were going. Using the WSJ is a more effective learning tool than a textbook because the information is always new and current, and there is always a current update to inform of new information (ex. comcast and NBC merge). While I did enjoy reading the WSJ and did learn a lot of information that helped to keep me informed on current information I would most likely not subscribe again because currently I am trying to save money in any way I can.
